Glyceryl Caprylate (Bulk) INCI Name: Glyceryl Caprylate. Benefits: Antimicrobial, skin conditioning, viscosity modifying. Applications: Naturally Derived preservative system, skin conditioning. Origin: Plant (Coconut/ Palm). Solubility: Slightly soluble in water. Use Level: 0.3-1%. General Information: Glyceryl Caprylate has an excellent efficacy against bacteria and yeast and as such makes a great preservative for skin care. It works at pH between 4.5-7 and is approved for use in the EU, US and Japan. The ingredient can be added to the water phase of an emulsion where it will melt at temperatures over 30C. It can be heated up to 80C without problem and is also compatible with surfactant solutios and alcohol based products. The excellent wetting ability of this ingredient can mean that emulsions are thinned somewhat so trials are recommended so that any adjustments can be made. Formulation Note: The glyceryl caprylate works really well with our p Anisic Acid to give broad spectrum protection. Caution:..... Group: Preservatives. Alternative Names: Glyceryl Caprylate,Glycerin. EINECS: 247-668-1,200-289-5. CAS No. 26402-26-6,56-81-5. Pack Sizes: 100G; 500G; 1KG; 5KG; 20KG and above upon request. Product ID: RMPVAGLYCCAP. General Note: The only way to be sure that your preservative system is working in your product is to carry out micro testing. While we are happy to pass on information and make theoretical recommendations of how to get the best out of our ingredients we can make no guarantees without this testing. There are two levels of test that a microbiological lab will do - one is a micro count which gives you a 'moment in time' look at the cleanliness of your formula and may also characterise the microbes present. The second is a Preservative Efficacy Test or PET. This is highly recommended as it tests how your product performs over time when it is challenged by microbes. Plantaserv D (Bulk) Benefits: Antimicrobial, skin conditioning, viscosity modifying. Applications: Odour Mask, Nature-identical preservative system, skin conditioning (hydrating). Origin: This blend contains nature-identical chemical components that are derived from a range of sources. The plant derived equivalent is Plantaserv C. Solubility: Water Soluble. Heat Stability: Relatively good can be added into your product at temperatures up to 80C. pH range: 4.5-5.5 is ideal but we have had success with products that have pH ranges slightly outside of this (3-6). Always be sure to run Preservative Efficacy Testing before settling on your formulation. Use Level: 3-4%. Do not exceed 4% in your formulation. Microbes Targeted: Broad-Spectrum (Bacteria, Yeast and Mould). Like many natural preservatives, this is slower to act than some of our synthetic options and as such could become overwhelmed in more challenging environments when used as the stand-alone preservative. Some examples of high risk formulations include those containing pigments (Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, mica, clays etc), those containing herbs or proteins. Group: Preservatives. Alternative Names: Glycerin,Aqua,Levulinic Acid,Sodium Hydroxide,p-Anisic Acid... .
