It being a retinol-like compound has been found to modulate following key genes like retinoid-binding and metabolizing genes, dermal-epidermal junction genes, extracellular matrix genes and cytoskeletal genes resulting in anti-aging benefits. It stimulates collagens type I, III (older fibroblasts) and IV proteins as revealed by cell culture studies.
