| TRIETHYL CITRATE | Acts as a deodorant active. Inhibits esterase based metabolism of sweat components causing malodour. Does not affect the natural skin flora. This natural based products is also used as co-solvent for aqueous products e.g. tonics and wet wipes. Used in deodorants and foot care applications. Triethyl Citrate has a long history of use in deodorants due to its capacity to inhibit esterase activity in bacteria. The enzymatic cleavage of certain esters present in human sweat and the resulting liberation of malodorous short chain fatty acids is one of the main reasons for bad smell on the skin. Triethyl Citrate has a well known effect to inhibit this process in bacteria.
