It meets the requirements of the Food Chemical Codex, making it suitable for all food, beverage, and nutritional supplement applications. This 85% aqueous solution is a colorless, odorless, and transparent liquid. It is syrupy but pourable. Although it does not meet the strict definition of a strong acid, the 85% solution is acidic enough to be corrosive. Applications include food additives, soaps and detergents, water treatment, toothpastes, rust removal, etching solutions in dentistry, teeth whiteners, cleaning products, nutritional supplements, and over-the-counter medicine. Caution: It is food grade and certified for use in food processing and preparation but not intended for direct consumption. Store in a cool, well-ventilated area protected from moisture and heat. Keep away from incompatible substances such as oxidizing agents, metals, combustible materials, and alkalis. It is a severe eye, skin, and respiratory irritant with repeated exposure.
