Kangaroo Paw Powder - Australian Native Extract (Bulk) Kangaroo paw is a plant that got its common name because of the shape of its flowers, this isn't animal derived! Naturally this plant grows around the South-West corner of Western Australia. The Noongar people call this 'Yonga Marr Wer'. The flower is the emblem of Western Australia and is greatly loved by native birds and animals who find nourishment in its nectar. In an attempt to become less pallatable to larger animals the plant has developed little hairs on its flowers to make grazing on them less palatable. The upside of this for birds and smaller mamals is that these hairs trap moisture thus making the plant even more appealing to pollinators. Kangaroo Paw Extract can be used in a wide range of cosmetic products including hair care. It is a natural source of Ferulic acid, a powerful antioxidant for anti-aging and environmental protection. It also contains natural sugars and fibers which can help trap moisture on the skin and hair for long-lasting hydration and skin conditioning. Appearance: Fine powder, pink/purple colouration that turns fluffy and a little thicker on hydration. The powder has a light woody scent. Extract Preparation: Freeze dried after picking to preserve the phytochemical integrity. Activity: This powdered extract has no nominated concentration ratio. Use Levels: You are best to hydrate this extract in water by taking 20% powder to 80% water and then filtering out any undissolved solids. Check pH and add preservative if you are making up a stock batch and storing it for future use. This solution can then be used in your formula at 1-10%. If you want to add the powder directly to your cosmetic product be aware that it will not all dissolve. Adding 0.2-2% of the dried powder is a recommended dose. ... Group: Extracts. Alternative Names: Anigozanthos Flavidus Flower Extract. EINECS: 920-054-7. CAS No. 223749-17-5. New Directions Australia
