SODIUM ACETATE TRIHYDRATE SODIUM ACETATE TRIHYDRATE is used as part of a buffer system when combined with acetic acid in various intramuscular, intravenous, topical, ophthalmic, nasal, oral, otic, and subcutaneous formulations. Sodium Acetate may be used to reduce the bitterness of oral pharmaceuticals. It can be used to enhance the antimicrobial properties of formulations; it has been shown to inhibit the growth of S. aureus and E. coli, but not C. albicans in protein hydrolysate solutions. Sodium acetate has also been used therapeutically for the treatment of metabolic acidosis in premature infants and in hemodialysis solutions. Group: Pharmaceutical ingredients, biopharma. CAS No. 6131-90-4. Composition: Sodium Acetate Trihydrate. Application: Biological Buffer & Denaturant. Function: Fermentation & Cell culture. Physical Form: Powder. Product Code: PIM000009613. SODIUM BICARBONATE SODIUM BICARBONATE BP/USP Sodium bicarbonate occurs as an odorless, white, crystalline powder with a saline, slightly alkaline taste. Sodium bicarbonate is generally used in pharmaceutical formulations as a source of carbon dioxide in effervescent tablets and granules. Additionally, sodium bicarbonate is used in solutions as a buffering agent for erythromycin, lidocaine, local anesthetic solutions, and total parenteral nutrition solutions. In some parenteral formulations, e.g. niacin, sodium bicarbonate is used to produce a sodium salt of the active ingredient that has enhanced solubility. Sodium bicarbonate has also been used as a freeze-drying stabilizer. Therapeutically, sodium bicarbonate may be used as an antacid, and as a source of the bicarbonate anion in the treatment of metabolic acidosis. Sodium bicarbonate may also be used as a component of oral rehydration salts and as a source of bicarbonate in dialysis fluids. Group: Pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients. CAS No. 144-55-8. Composition: Sodium Bicarbonate. Application: Oral, Tablets, Pellets, Powder. Function: Buffer, pH adjustment. Physical Form: Powder. Certification: USP/NF. Product Code: PIM000009614.
