| Basalt fibre | Basalt fibre is used in composties to provide flexural strength. Uses: It's often used in concrete. it doesn't degrade in the alkaline conditions that occur in concrete unlike normal glass fibre. also, most polymer fibres only give strength in the drying stages of the concrete whereas basalt fibre continues to give strength. also, unlike steel fibre, basalt fibre doesn't corrode. Group: Chemicals. Grades: 5, 12 and 24 mm lengths as well as roving. Each comes in several grades with different sizing. Molecular formula: Various grades are available.
